INOVERA ’25

The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University once again became a beacon of innovation and intellectual prowess on March 5th, 2025, as INOVERA ’25 unfolded with grandeur and brilliance. Under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Pradeep Kalansooriya, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, the event showcased the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering creativity, technical expertise, and academic excellence. The day commenced with an air of anticipation as students, faculty, and distinguished guests gathered to witness the culmination of months of hard work and dedication.
The highlight of the day was the Software Engineering Group Project Exhibition, where 13 projects presented their innovative solutions to a distinguished panel of judges. The judging panel included industry experts such as Mr. Lakmal Embuldeniya, President of ISACA; Mr. Rangana Dilhara, Assistant Vice President at Synpulse, Singapore; and Ms. Darshani Cooray, Software Engineer. Their expertise and feedback provided invaluable perspectives to the participants. The competition was intense, with each project showcasing unique ideas and technical expertise. The top honor was awarded to the “KDUGO” system, a project that stood out for its creativity and practical impact. First runners-up went to the “Pet Shop Management System,” which impressed with its user-friendly design and functionality, while the “Supermarket Management System” secured second runners-up for its efficient and scalable approach to retail management. In addition to the awards, an online voting system was used to determine the most popular project, which was awarded to the “Food Delivery Management System” for its widespread appeal. These projects, along with the others on display, reflected the students’ ability to think critically and apply their skills to create meaningful solutions.
As the event concluded, it left a lasting impression on everyone present. INOVERA ’25, organized by intake 40 IT/IS students under the guidance of Mr. RPS Kathriarachchi, stood as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. It served as a reminder of the potential that lies within the next generation of technologists and problem-solvers. The success of this year’s exhibition has set a high standard for future events, inspiring students to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible and to strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), the Vice Chancellor of KDU, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Also, the presence of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Major General CA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC and industrial supervisors added glamour to the event. INOVERA ’25 was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a platform for students to demonstrate their ability to innovate and solve real-world challenges through technology.
The event was organized under the supervision of Mr. R.P.S. Kathriarachchi, Senior Lecturer in the Department of IT, Faculty of Computing, who also served as the Module Coordinator and Project Coordinator.
