Inter-Faculty Cricket Tournament 2025: A Celebration of Talent, Sportsmanship, and Unity at KDU

The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) witnessed an exciting display of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship as the inter-faculty cricket tournament 2025 came to a thrilling close on 17 March 2025. This highly anticipated event that known as the centerpiece of KDU Games showcased the true essence of cricket, discipline, perseverance, respect, and integrity. With participation of 10 faculties, the tournament was an overwhelming success, filled with vibrant energy and remarkable talent. The teams composed of students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, represented the following faculties:

Nail-biting encounters, where wickets fell in the final moments or stunning catches and powerful boundaries stole the show, made the tournament a spectacle of excellence and sportsmanship.
Champions and Highlights
The Faculty of Law emerged as the champions, demonstrating unparalleled skill, strategy, and discipline. They were followed by the Faculty of Engineering, who claimed the runners-up position, while the Faculty of Medicine secured a well-deserved third place. However, all participants earned respect for their hard-fought efforts with each team contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of healthy competition.
The standout individual performances were celebrated with following personal accomplishments:
- Best Batsman – Day Scholar MWA Jithwara from the Faculty of Law
- Best Bowler – Day Scholar JJ Jayawardana from the Faculty of Law
- Man of the Final – Day Scholar MWA Jithwara from the Faculty of Law
- Best Fielder – Day Scholar NC Liyanage from the Faculty of Engineering
- Man of the Tournament – C/L/CPL PANR Dhananjaya from the Faculty of Medicine
A Grand Closure
The tournament culminated in a closing ceremony held at the KDU Basketball Court, attended by distinguished guests including the Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS). The Chief Guest praised the dedication and athletic abilities of the students, acknowledging how the tournament had brought together individuals from all faculties in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
