Media Circle Welcomes New Committee with a Grand Installation Ceremony

The Media Circle celebrated the installation of the new committee of the KDU Ratmalana and KDU Southern Campus Media Clubs with a memorable event held on 2^nd of April 2025 at the FGS Auditorium, KDU. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara VSV USP psc MMaritimePol BSc (DS), the Vice Chancellor, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Chandana Sooriyabandara, Media Advisor to the President, as the Guest of Honour. Senior military officers, academic staff, officer cadets, and day scholars were also in attendance to witness the occasion.

The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the Media Circle. This was followed by a captivating welcome dance performed by the talented KDU Dancing Troupe, setting a vibrant and festive tone for the evening.

Both the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour delivered inspiring speeches during the ceremony. The Vice Chancellor congratulated the newly appointed committee and emphasized the importance of fostering creativity and innovation in the field of media. He also highlighted the vital role the media club plays within the university. Mr. Chandana Sooriyabandara addressed the gathering as well, discussing evolving trends in modern media platforms and urging young media enthusiasts to prioritize ethical practices and produce content that contributes positively to society.

A significant highlight of the event was the pinning of badges on the newly inducted committee members. This honor was performed by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour, marking the official commencement of the committee’s tenure. Both newly appointed Presidents addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to the university authorities for their trust and support. They also shared their vision for the future and acknowledged all attendees for their encouragement.

The evening was further enriched by a series of entertainment performances. The Sinfoneita team, champions of the 2024 Tantalize singing competition, delivered a mesmerizing act that captivated the audience. Additionally, the Beige Band impressed everyone with a breathtaking musical performance, showcasing their exceptional talent.

The event was a perfect blend of tradition, inspiration, and entertainment, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended. It marked a promising beginning for the new committee and set the stage for a year of creativity, leadership, and impactful contributions to the media landscape.
