Installation of Executive Committee 2025/2026 of KDU Comperes’ Club: A Club with a Social Cause

The first installation ceremony of the KDU Comperes’ Club was held on the 23rd of April 2025 at the FGS Auditorium. Since the initial stage, as the FMSH Comperes’ Circle, the club expanded its wings and widened its horizons incorporating students from all faculties under the guidance of its advisor Dr. Dhinesha Perera. The prime objective of the club is to develop multi-lingual comperes while conducting training programs on compering which goes beyond just announcing in ceremonies, but with a social cause.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Brigadier R.K.A.R.P. Ratnayake RSP USP psc, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of KDU, the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Criminal Justice. After lighting of the oil lamp, KDU anthem was followed by one minute silence to commemorate the fallen war heroes. The outgoing secretary Mr. Senan Saranguhewa delivered the welcome address. Student comperes’ live then showcased the talents of the club members who performed segments of compering at the KDU Colours Night, Aurudu Celebration (in all 3 languages) , July ball and Iftar segment. The past president Ms. Amandi Kulatileka gave a heartfelt speech followed by a video footage demonstrating the various compering events that the club has undertaken.  The Chief Guest, Brigadier R.K.A.R.P. Ratnayake RSP USP psc, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of KDU addressed the gathering followed by the badge pinning ceremony for the newly elected Executive Committee for the year 2025/2026.

The unveiling of the proceedings then took place where the inaugural edition of the first official publication of the KDU Comperes’ Club, “The Workshops in Retrospect” was then published and handed over to the distinguished invitees. The Keynote Speech was delivered by Mrs. Yashodhara Hemachandra, Division Director, Division D, Toastmasters International. The new president Ms. Hansani Karunaratne then delivered her maiden speech. The vote of thanks was delivered by the incoming secretary Ms. Savidya Dishani.  The ceremony was concluded along with the official photograph.
