
Vice Chancellor Visits Southern Campus to Deliver Leadership Lecture to MBBS Officer Cadets
The Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Rear Admiral HGU Dhammika Kumara VSV USP psc, visited the KDU Southern Campus on 12th July 2025 to deliver a special lecture on leadership to the MBBS Officer Cadets of Intake 36, who are currently undergoing their advanced military training.
Despite his demanding schedule, the Vice Chancellor took the time to engage directly with the officer cadets, reflecting his strong commitment to their development. The session was both insightful and interactive, with the Vice Chancellor drawing on his vast personal experiences from military service and leadership roles in higher education.
Focusing on the role of a medical officer as a leader, he emphasized key expectations, professional standards, and the importance of ethical conduct. He offered clear guidance on what to do and what to avoid as future military medical professionals, highlighting the balance between clinical excellence and military discipline.
The lecture proved to be a valuable learning opportunity for the cadets, leaving a lasting impression and reinforcing the importance of character, responsibility, and service in leadership.
