GENERAL SIR JOHN KOTELAWALA DEFENCE UNIVERSITY SHINES AT THE 40TH SRI LANKA NATIONAL ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS- 2025
The waters of Diyawanna Lake bore witness to strength, precision and discipline as the 40th Sri Lanka National Rowing Championships 2025 unfolded from 23rd to 26th July at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre, Battaramulla. Organized by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka (ARASL), this landmark championship marked a major milestone in Sri Lanka’s sporting calendar, bringing together over 300 oarsmen and oarswomen across 600+ entries and featuring more than 200 fiercely contested races.
Representing General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) with unwavering commitment, the university’s rowing squads deployed with pride embodying the ethos of military precision, resilience, and tactical execution throughout the regatta.
KDU rowers showcased formidable prowess and unity competing shoulder to shoulder with the nation’s elite rowing contingents and securing multiple podium finishes across both intermediate and open categories. This performance stood not only as a symbol of athletic achievement but also as a manifestation of military training, discipline, and leadership cultivated at KDU.
