British High Commission’s new Defence Attaché Pays Courtesy Call at KDU
Colonel Darren Woods, the newly appointed Defence Attaché (DA) to the British High Commission in Colombo, visited KDU on May 31, 2022. He was warmly welcomed by the officials and staff of the university. The new DA was accompanied by the outgoing DA, Colonel Paul Clayton.
During the visit, Colonel Darren Woods met with the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris. They exchanged pleasantries and discussed important issues concerning mutual interests in the defence and educational sectors. The meeting also emphasized on fostering stronger ties between the two countries, especially in terms of deepening their strategic partnership. Some of the essential topics mentioned during the dialogue are scholarships and exchange programs for students and faculty and exploring avenues for inviting resource personnel for seminars and conferences to facilitate knowledge exchange. Furthermore, Colonel Woods expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome received and commended KDU’s commitment to excellence in education and research for the defence sector. Following the meeting, the Vice Chancellor presented him with a thoughtful memento to commemorate his first visit to KDU.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe and the Director, International Relations, Dr. KMGP Premadsa were also participated to the occasion.
