OFFICER CADETS AND OFFICERS OF FDSS PAID LAST RESPECT TO 8th COMMANDANT OF KDA

AVM Upali Wanasinghe (Retd) USP psc BSc (Cey) of Sri Lanka Air Force Technical Engineering and the 8^th Commandant of KDA was passed away on 3^rd August 2023 at the age of 83 years.

The Dean of Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Colonel Pradeep Ratnayake RSP USP psc, the Officers and Officer Cadets of FDSS, paid their last respect to him on 5^th August 2023 at the funeral of Late AVM Upali Wanasinghe (Retd) USP psc BSc (Cey). He severed KDA as the Commandant of KDA from 8^th February 1994 to 7^th May 1996.

The remains of former commandant of KDA were laid at No 7A, Rathnayaka Mawatha, Palawatta, Battaramulla. The military funeral of Late AVM Upali Wanasinghe (Retd) USP psc BSc (Cey) was conducted by Sri Lanka Air Force according to military traditions. The burial took place at Boralla Cemetery on 6^th August 2023. A large number of military personals and mourners attended the funeral. After the funeral process reached the entrance of the Boralla Cemetery, the coffin covered with the National Flag was placed on the carriage before Airmen marched the remains. Other military customs and traditions took place accordingly including handing over of his decorations, medals and ornaments to his next of kin.
