KDU’s Faculty of Technology conducts an Impressive Technology Exhibition
The Faculty of Technology at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University organized a Technology Exhibition for the second consecutive year on 16th September 2023, under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor of KDU Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS) as the Chief Guest, to showcase the innovations of students.
The exhibition featured a diverse array of projects spanning various domains of technology, highlighting the faculty’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence. From advanced robotics to renewable energy solutions, the event provided a glimpse into the forefront of technological advancements.
Furthermore, the exhibition provided a platform for industry partnerships and collaborations. Representatives from leading technology companies were present, expressing keen interest in the innovative projects on display. These interactions open doors for potential internships, research collaborations, and future employment opportunities for the university’s talented pool of students.
In his speech the Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude to students and stated that the country needs professionals who are practical and pragmatic. He went on to emphasize that, despite being one of the youngest faculties of KDU, the Faculty of Technology will gain a lot of recognition for the good work they it is undertaking.
Prof Prasanna Premadasa, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, expressed pride in the achievements of the students and faculty, stating, “This exhibition is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and technical expertise of our students and the staff. He thanked all the esteemed guess including the Deputy Vice Chancellor Brig DCA Wickramasinghe and all the other participants for their presence.
The exhibition was attended by the students from a large number of schools in and around Colombo. At the conclusion of the exhibition the most popular exhibit was selected based on the voting by the visitors. Accordingly, the “Face recognition door unlock system” was chosen as the “Most popular exhibit item”.
