KDU’s Role in Shaping Future Leaders: Highlights from the Higher Education and Career Guidance Exhibition
The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) proudly hosted the Higher Education and Career Guidance Exhibition at the scenic Pearl Bay Water Park in Diyagama on 28th of September, 2014.
The event was held in honor of World Children’s Day, and its primary objective was to inspire and educate the younger generation, providing them with valuable insights into their future education and career pathways. The exhibition attracted numerous students, parents, and educators, opening a dynamic platform for discussions about opportunities in higher education.
The stall representing General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) highlighted the many educational and extracurricular opportunities available at the university. It served as a hub for prospective students and parents who were interested in learning more about what KDU has to offer.
The key objectives of the KDU stall were:
- Higher Education Facilities: The stall provided detailed information about the modern facilities available at KDU, catering to both cadet and day scholar This included an overview of the academic, residential, and recreational amenities that support a holistic learning environment.
- Degree Details and Career Opportunities: Prospective students had the chance to explore the wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered at KDU. The stall emphasized how these degree programs are designed to open doors to various career opportunities, both locally and internationally. Special attention was given to degree programs in the fields of engineering, management, and defense studies, showcasing their relevance in today’s job market.
- Innovations from the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering: The exhibition also put a spotlight on the cutting-edge innovations and research being conducted at KDU, particularly within the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering. Attendees were introduced to the latest developments in aviation technology.
- Sports, Clubs, and Extracurricular Activities: In addition to academic excellence the participants were exposed to experience the extensive range of extracurricular activities available in KDU including sports, clubs, and cultural events. They were given emphasis as they help students to develop their leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of community while pursuing their studies.
The event was a valuable opportunity for KDU to engage directly with future students, offering them personalized guidance and answering their queries about academic programmes, university life, and career prospects.
