A Sacred Hindu Pooja Ceremony Marks the 44th Anniversary of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU)
General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) proudly celebrated its 44th anniversary, on 21st October 2024, with a sacred Hindu Pooja ceremony at the revered Dehiwala Sri Venkateshwara Maha Vishnu Kovil. This spiritual occasion was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of KDU, alongside the military and academic staff, and was thoughtfully organized by the university’s Hindu students.
The ceremony began with the traditional rituals of the Pooja, which invoked blessings for the university’s continued success and prosperity. The sacred temple, known for its profound religious significance within the Hindu community, provided a serene and spiritually charged atmosphere for this milestone celebration.
The presence of both military and academic leaders at the event emphasized the unity and harmony between KDU’s diverse communities, highlighting the institution’s commitment to honouring the various cultural and religious traditions of its students and staff.
