Prof. Sundeep Muppidi of University of Hartford Delivers Special Guest Lecture on Interdisciplinary Curriculum Building
On November 25, 2024, Professor Sundeep R. Muppidi from the University of Hartford’s College of Arts and Sciences delivered a special guest lecture to the faculty members of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities of KDU. The lecture, focused on “Building Interdisciplinary Curricula,” was aimed at exploring new frameworks for educational development that foster a more integrated approach to teaching across diverse academic disciplines. The lecture was organized by the Centre for Media Studies.
Prof. Muppidi, a highly respected academic with nearly 30 years of global experience, brought a wealth of knowledge to the session. His extensive background spans administration, research, filmmaking, and teaching at universities and institutions worldwide. With a doctorate in mass communication from Bowling Green State University, he has become a leading figure in the field of international communication and communication for social change and empowerment.
During the lecture, Prof. Muppidi emphasized the growing need for interdisciplinary curricula in higher education, particularly in today’s rapidly evolving academic landscape. He highlighted how blending insights and methodologies from multiple disciplines can provide students with a more comprehensive understanding of complex global issues and prepare them for the challenges of an interconnected world. A prolific scholar, Prof. Muppidi’s contributions to academia are notable, with four co-authored or edited books, over 50 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous media productions, and more than 80 refereed conference presentations and invited talks to his name. His work continues to inspire and shape the future of communication studies, particularly in the context of social change and empowerment.
