FOC Career Fair 2025: Bridging Academia and Industry

The Faculty of Computing Career Fair 2025 was successfully held on March 18, 2025, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies premises, from 0900h to 1800h. This event was exclusively organized by the Entrepreneurial Support, Industrial Training, and Career Guidance Unit (eICU) of the Faculty of Computing for the Intake 39 students of the Faculty of Computing, accommodating approximately 200 undergraduates seeking career opportunities in the IT and technology sectors. The initiative was spearheaded by undergraduates of the British Computer Society, with the collaboration of the CSSL GenZ Chapter, IEEE Student Branch, IEEE WIE Affinity Group, and the IEEE Computer Society Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, under the guidance of the Entrepreneurial Support, Industrial Training, and Career Guidance Unit (eICU) of the Faculty of Computing.
The fair attracted a distinguished lineup of leading organizations from diverse industries, offering students an exceptional platform to connect with potential employers, explore career prospects, and gain insights into industry expectations. Participating companies included IFS, Rootcode, MAS Holdings, Arimac Lanka, MillenniumIT, Embla, Epic Lanka, hSenid Mobile Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, Sanmark (Pvt) Ltd, Orel IT, LB Finance, VS Information Systems (Pvt) Limited, Scienter, Boffin Institute of Data Science, Glammer Media, and CodeGen.
As a pivotal event in the FOC academic calendar, the Career Fair played a crucial role in facilitating industry-academia collaboration, fostering professional networking, and enhancing student employment prospects. Through direct engagement with industry professionals, attendees gained valuable exposure to recruitment processes, career pathways, and industry trends. The FOC Career Fair 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to empowering future graduates by equipping them with the necessary skills, connections, and opportunities to excel in the competitive job market.
