Southern Premier League 2025: Cricket, Camaraderie, and Competition

The Southern Premier League 2025 was an exhilarating cricket tournament organized by the Intake 41 batch of the Department of Information Technology at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The event took place on March 28, 2025, at the Southern Campus cricket ground.

The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, along with Brigadier HMGE Herath RSP USP ndu psc, the Rector of Southern Campus, as well as Deans of Faculties, senior officers, lecturers, military personnel, and both academic and non-academic staff.

This annual tournament showcased the remarkable cricketing talents of students from various faculties. In addition to competitive matches, the event also featured exhibition games, enhancing the overall excitement. Teams from multiple faculties participated, demonstrating not only their athletic prowess but also exceptional teamwork. The faculties that took part included:

The tournament culminated in a closing ceremony held at the KDU Southern Campus cricket ground. Brigadier HMGE Herath RSP USP ndu psc, the Rector of the Southern Campus, commended the students for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship, highlighting how the event fostered unity among the various faculties.
