Showcasing Opportunities and Empowering Students — KDU Joins Hands with Homagama Education Zone to Shape Tomorrow’s Professionals

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) proudly participated in the ‘Career Guidance Exhibition’ organized by the Homagama Education Zone on 12 June 2025 at Wilfred Senanayake Ground, with the support of the Western Provincial Department of Education. The event aimed to assist students from the aforementioned education zone in making informed academic and career decisions by exposing them to a wide range of opportunities available in both the public and private sectors. Furthermore, the exhibition brought together various professional and educational organizations, united by the common goal of helping students make competent and confident decisions regarding their future career paths.

Approximately 1,500 students from prestigious local schools in the Homagama Education Zone participated in the exhibition, which was targeted at secondary school students from Grades 9 to 13. Moreover, with the participation of 32 notable educational and professional institutions, students were presented with a wide array of educational and career options to explore. The presence of these institutions significantly enhanced the overall value and impact of the event.

Furthermore, a dedicated team from the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies represented KDU and actively engaged with students throughout the event, providing in-depth insights into the university’s academic programs, guidance on the admission process, and an overview of career opportunities available through the university. KDU’s presence at the exhibition helped clarify career paths within the armed forces and highlighted the diverse range of academic programs offered by the university, including Management, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Technology, and more.
