KDU VOLLEYBALL QUEENS CROWNED CHAMPIONS AT LEGENDS TROPHY 2025
The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University women’s volleyball team triumphed at the Legends Trophy 2025 – KIU Inter University Invitational Volleyball Tournament, became champions after an outstanding performance shown throughout the tournament.
The tournament was comprised with the teams represented by 10 universities and was held on 18th and 19th June 2025 at the Kiyo Ito Premises, KIU University. The tournament was remarkable due to the exceptional performances displayed during the finals by KDU players against the team represented by University of Colombo. Their powerful attacks, tight defense, and smooth coordination kept their opponents on the back foot throughout the game.
Several players from the KDU team were recognized for their exceptional individual performances. Following are the best performances shown.
- Best Server – Utpala Nethmini, for her consistent and strategic serves that disrupted opponent formations.
- Best Receiver – Nethmi Kaushalya, who provided stability and precise passes under pressure.
- Best Setter – Chamodi Sandeepani, for her intelligent playmaking and accurate setups.
- Best Attacker – Navodya Lankapathi, whose explosive spikes and timing made her a constant threat at the net.
Winning the Legends Trophy marks a significant milestone for KDU Volleyball, further strengthening their reputation in university sports. With a talented squad and a winning mindset, KDU women’s team is poised for continued success.
