
Squadron Commander’s Mess Night – Intake 41
The Squadron Commander’s Mess Night of Intake 41 was held with elegance and military decorum at the Officers’ Mess of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 12th July 2025. This time-honored tradition provided officer cadets and officers an opportunity to reaffirm the values of discipline, camaraderie, and professional fellowship that lie at the heart of military life.
The evening began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Major PSC Fernando psc Squadron Commander of Intake 41. In accordance with military custom, all present rose in respectful anticipation to greet him, offering a warm welcome and expressing gratitude for his gracious presence.
The Pre-Session followed, offering officer cadets and officers the opportunity for introductions and courteous exchanges of greetings. This segment encouraged open conversation across ranks, fostering bonds of camaraderie and mutual understanding outside the day-to-day training environment.
Between the formal sessions, guests enjoyed a dinner that was both exquisite and convivial, marked by impeccable service and attention to tradition. The meal provided not only a culinary highlight but also a setting for relaxed conversation, reinforcing the spirit of fellowship and unity that such occasions are designed to celebrate. During the evening’s proceedings, Major PSC Fernando addressed the gathering, offering thoughtful and inspiring words to the officer cadets..
As the evening drew to a close, the event ended with words of appreciation to all who participated.
