PADURA ’24 – Annual Musical Extravaganza

Padura ’24, a remarkable evening orchestrated by Intake 40 of the Department of Information Technology at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University – Southern Campus, reverberated with captivating music, vibrant dance performances, and engaging drama. This spectacular event took place on the 14^th of March 2024, within the premises of the Southern Campus of the University, enveloped in the enchanting theme of “Senkadagala,” meticulously brought to life by the students themselves.

The guest of honor for the occasion was the esteemed Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula, an award-winning writer, who graced the gathering with his wisdom and presence. Accompanying him were several distinguished personalities, including Dr. Asela Gunasekara, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Dr. AH Lakmal, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, SMT Priyadarshana, psc, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Defense and Strategic Studies, and Mr. SP Rosairo, Principal of Sooriyawewa National School.

The event witnessed active participation from lecturers and undergraduates across various departments, military officers, and students from Sooriyawewa National School. Demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility, the students allocated Rs. 50,000 from the fundraising initiatives of Padura ’24 to the Rector’s Fund, with the noble intention of donating the proceeds to Sooriyawewa National School. With its triumphant conclusion, Padura ’24 left an indelible mark on its participants, leaving them captivated and eagerly anticipating future editions.
