The Annual General Meeting of KDU Alumni Association – 2024
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Alumni Association of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was held at the Faculty of Graduate Studies auditorium on 13th June 2024 at 1600 hours. The event marked a significant occasion for the KDU community, bringing together a diverse group of participants with the presence of the Commander of the Air Force (President of KDU Alumni Association), the immediate past president (Maj Gen Renuka Rowel (Retd) RWP VSV USP ndu USACGSC, Vice Chancellor (Vice Patron of KDU Alumni Association), other Office Bearers, Serving and Retired military Alumni members of tri forces from KDA intake 1 to KDU Intake 33, Day Scholars, and both academic and administrative staff graced the event.
The AGM commenced with addresses by the President followed by the immediate past president, who reflected on the achievements and milestones of the past years. Their speeches set the tone for a productive and forward-looking meeting. A key highlight of the AGM was the election of the new office bearers for the Executive Committee. This election represented a vital step in ensuring that the leadership remains dynamic and responsive to the needs of the KDU community. The newly elected members were expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to their roles.
Another notable event during the meeting was the ceremonial issuance of membership cards to its members who have obtained ordinary membership with life membership status. This ceremony highlighted the importance of fostering a strong and engaged alumni network, which is crucial for the continued growth and prestige of KDU. Throughout the meeting, various initiatives aiming the enhancement of the KDU alumni community were discussed. These initiatives were designed to strengthen connections among alumni, promote professional development, and elevate the status of KDU on the global stage.
